Hand-Knotted Transitional Area Rugs

Transitional rugs sit between classic and modern. They keep the florals and vines of a traditional design but soften them, open up the field and lower the contrast, so a transitional area rug fits a contemporary sofa as easily as an heirloom chair. Most pieces here are Ziegler rugs and Peshawar rugs, two closely related styles known for muted color and an antique look. They are hand-knotted rugs made from hand-spun wool, a blend of merino, New Zealand and Ghazni wool. Hand-spun wool takes color a little differently from batch to batch, which creates abrash, the gentle shifts of shade that give each rug depth. After knotting, the rugs are stone-washed and sun-dried for a soft hand and a natural sheen. Palettes of beige, taupe, green, blue and black make them easy to place in living rooms, bedrooms and open-plan spaces. Each one is one of a kind, ships free in the US and can be returned within 14 days.
