Rows of small leaf motifs repeat across a pale tan field with soft brown detail. The regular repeat gives the rug a tailored, orderly feel. This eclectic transitional 9x15 area rug comes in tan.
Hand knotted and one of a kind, this wool rug is made from hand-spun, natural vegetable dyed wool, a blend of merino, New Zealand, and Ghazni wool. The tan of the field and border comes from vegetable dyes extracted from local plants, and brown and gold pick out the smaller motifs. You may notice an abrash in the tan field, a soft shift in shade within a single color. It comes from hand-spun wool taking natural dye slightly differently from batch to batch, and it is one of the signs of a true handmade rug. Fine hand knotting keeps the rows of small motifs even. The pile is trimmed to a moderate thickness, then stone-washed and sun-dried for a natural sheen across the full 8'11'' x 14'10''. What you get is a dense wool pile with a soft hand, low enough to sit neatly under chairs and doors and sturdy enough for busy rooms. Like all hand knotted wool, the pile has a nap, so the tan tones shift slightly as you walk around the rug and as the light changes.
Use it as a large living room rug, under a dining table that seats eight, or in a great room. The calm tan tones, with touches of brown and gold, work in Scandinavian and modern farmhouse rooms, and give a quiet-luxury feel under neutral upholstery. The small-scale pattern layers well with bolder fabrics and prints.
