Why Buy From Arshs Fine Rugs

Why Buy From Arsh's

What you actually get when you buy from us.

You can buy a rug from a marketplace, a drop-shipper, or a big-box site. The rug arrives, the box gets opened, and that's the relationship.

Buying from a fourth-generation family workshop is different. Here's what that actually means — and what you actually get.

Four Generations of Obsession

What four generations of doing this actually buys.

For the last four generations, our family has done one thing: hand-knotted rugs. Not as a side business, not as a brand license, not as a reseller — as our work, our craft, and our name. Here's what that focus actually buys our clients.

i.

We travel the world for the finest designs.

Our team travels to the looms of Iran, Turkey, India, Afghanistan, and Pakistan to find the most intricate hand-knotted patterns and the most authentic color palettes. The motifs you'll see in our showroom didn't come from a catalog — they came from years of direct relationships with the families who make them.

ii.

We never stop refining the craft.

Four generations in, we still treat rug-making like research and development. New dye lots, new wool sources, new design directions — we test, we refine, and we don't ship anything we wouldn't put in our own home. The standard is set by the previous generation, and we're committed to raising it.

iii.

A rug for every budget.

Our inventory genuinely spans the full range — from entry-level pieces under $500 to museum-grade carpets that take a year on the loom. A $400 client gets the same attention as a $40,000 client, and we'll happily walk you through exactly what your budget buys before you spend a dollar.

iv.

Loyalty earned, generation after generation.

Many of our clients have bought from us for decades and then sent their children to do the same. The reason isn't marketing — it's that we treat every customer like a relationship, not a transaction. That's how a family business earns the loyalty and respect of three generations of buyers.

Six Reasons Clients Choose Us

The things you can't get anywhere else.

Most of what we offer, you'd hope to find at any good rug seller. A few things are genuinely rare — and those are the reasons most of our customers come back, refer friends, and stay with us for decades.

01

You're talking to the family

Not a call center. Not an outsourced support team. The people who answer your questions are the same people who design and source the rugs. There are no layers between you and the loom.

02

Custom carpets — start to finish

Most rug sellers can't make a rug. We can. From a single sketch or color palette, we'll design and weave a one-of-a-kind hand-knotted carpet to your exact specifications. Most clients are surprised it's even an option.

03

Direct-from-manufacturer pricing

Because we design and manufacture our own collections, you're not paying for a license, a brand markup, or a wholesaler's margin. The same rug at a department store is often two to three times the price.

04

Hundreds of rugs, every size and style

Traditional, transitional, modern, color-reform, tribal, antique, oversize. From accent runners to 14×20 statement pieces. The inventory is wide enough that nearly every project finds its match.

05

We educate, we don't pressure

Hand-knotted versus hand-tufted, Persian knot versus Turkish knot, KPSI, fiber, dye — these things matter, and most buyers don't know to ask. We walk you through them so you buy with confidence.

06

The president is on this page

If something goes wrong with your purchase, you don't have to escalate up a hierarchy. Our president's email is published below. Most rug companies hide the owner. We don't.

What It's Like to Shop With Us

The buying experience, step by step.

Whether you're a first-time buyer choosing your first hand-knotted rug or an interior designer sourcing pieces for a multi-room project, here's what to expect when you work with our team.

01
A Real Conversation
Tell us about your space, your style, your budget — by phone, by email, or in person at our showroom. We'll ask about light, traffic, furniture, and what other rugs (if any) you already love. There's no script.
02
Curated Options, Not the Whole Catalog
Rather than dump hundreds of links on you, we'll narrow our inventory to three to five pieces that actually fit what you described. If we don't have something right, we'll tell you — and sometimes we can custom-make it.
03
See It Before You Commit
Come to our Carlstadt showroom by appointment to see the rugs in person, or ask for detailed photos, video, and close-ups. For interior designers, we can also send physical samples or arrange a trial in your client's space.
04
Transparent Pricing
Every rug has a clear price tied to its size, knot count, materials, and origin. Trade pricing is available for designers with a valid resale certificate. We don't do fake "$5,000 — now $999" markdown theatre.
05
Free, Insured Delivery
All orders ship free across the 48 continental United States, fully insured, with tracking. Local NJ and NYC clients can also arrange showroom pickup or hand delivery for larger pieces.
06
Long-term Care
After the sale, we're still your point of contact. Our in-house cleaning and restoration team takes care of your rug for the next 20, 50, 100 years — using the same wool, dyes, and knot count as the original.
Custom Carpets

A rug made for you and your room.

Most rug sellers can't make a rug. We can. If you can't find what you want in our existing collection — or if you want something that doesn't exist anywhere else — we'll design and hand-knot a one-of-a-kind carpet to your exact specifications. Here's how it works.

i. Education

Choose the construction.

We walk you through the differences between hand-knotted, hand-woven, hand-tufted, hand-loom, and jute — what each looks like, how it ages, and what it costs. You decide what fits your project.

ii. Design

Pattern & style direction.

Traditional medallion, geometric tribal, transitional, modern color-block — whatever direction fits your space. We can adapt from a reference image, work from your own sketch, or design from scratch.

iii. Color

Unlimited palette.

Once the design is locked in, you pick the colors from an unlimited palette. Match your existing furniture, complement your wall color, or build the room around the rug. We provide physical color samples on request.

iv. Manufacture

Hand-knotted & inspected.

After your written approval, the design goes to the loom. Once complete, every custom piece goes through our strict in-house quality inspection before it ships. The result, as we like to say, is a touch of heaven for your home.

Construction Types We Work In

Hand-Knotted

The gold standard. Each knot tied individually on a vertical loom.

Hand-Woven

Flat-weave construction (Kilim, Soumak). Lighter, graphic, reversible.

Hand-Tufted

Yarn punched into a canvas backing. Faster and less expensive than knotted.

Hand-Loom

Woven on a foot loom. Distinct from hand-knotted but still genuinely handmade.

Jute & Natural Fiber

Plant-fiber weaves for casual, textured, durable underfoot use.

A Note From the President

If something goes wrong, email me directly.

Most rug companies make it nearly impossible to talk to a decision-maker. Our family has run this business for four generations because we don't operate that way.

If you have a question, a concern, or you're not satisfied with anything about your experience at Arsh's — your purchase, our team, our service — email me personally. Not a support inbox. Not a contact form. Me.

I read every email that comes to this address, and I respond within one business day. Whatever the issue is, we'll work it out. That's been the standard for four generations, and it's not going to change.
