What Arsh Supplies: Real Rubber & Felt

We source architectural padding made with sustainable natural rubber and heat-pressed felt. These components contain zero chemical plasticizers or adhesive compounds. They will never degrade into synthetic dust, discolor white oak oils, or adhere permanently to high-end floor coatings over decades of use.

The Danger of Cheap PVC Mesh

Inexpensive polymer/plastic mesh pads common in big-box retail rely heavily on synthetic oils for stickiness. Over time, heat variations cause these artificial oils to off-gas and migrate, effectively melting grid patterns directly into the clear coats of hardwood finishes, ruining floors permanently.

Made to Order

Hand-woven rugs are rarely straight. Your pad shouldn't be either.

A genuine tribal or heirloom carpet carries unique asymmetry from its original organic weaving tension. A straight, factory-cut rectangle will always peek out from beneath the fringe or fail to cover the corners properly.

We hand-tailor your selected padding in our workshop to perfectly shadow the unique shape of your specific rug, keeping it tucked precisely 1.5 - 2.5 inches short of the edge perimeter. The result is a clean, floating edge profile with zero visible padding outlines.

Frequently Asked Padding Inquiries

Are your pads safe for radiant-heated floors?

Yes. Because our premium padding consists exclusively of organic felt and unrefined natural rubber, they withstand high-temperature thermal cycling without emitting toxic fumes, odors, or becoming sticky.

How frequently should padding be replaced?

While cheap PVC meshes dry out and crumble within one to two years, our commercial-grade felt and rubber systems typically serve robustly for 3 to 5 years before natural structural elasticity requires replacement.

Will a thick padding raise my rug too high?

Our Cushion + Grip pad sits at 1/4 inch, which adds premium underfoot relief without creating a notable tripping hazard. For high-clearance doorways or ultra-thin spaces, our 1/16-inch pure rubber pad provides complete slip protection without any bulk.

Can you cut pads for rugs I didn't buy from Arsh's?

Absolutely. Simply provide us with the rough length and width dimensions of your rug, or bring it to our showroom, and we will cut your chosen cushion material to match it perfectly.
