Pale blossoms and stems cover a rust field inside a soft gold floral border. It brings a soft, garden-like feel to the floor. This oriental transitional 9x12 area rug comes in rust and gold.
This one-of-a-kind, handmade wool rug is hand knotted from hand-spun, natural vegetable dyed wool, a blend of merino, New Zealand, and Ghazni wool. The vegetable dyes, extracted from local plants, color the rust field and the gold border. Look for the abrash, a gentle shift in shade within a single color. It tends to show most in larger areas of one color, such as the rust field here, and it happens because hand-spun wool takes natural dye a little differently from batch to batch. The curves of the flowers and vines are drawn knot by knot, which keeps their outlines sharp. The pile is trimmed to a moderate thickness, then stone-washed and sun-dried for a natural sheen across the full 9'2'' x 12'6''. The result is a dense, even wool pile that feels soft underfoot, springs back under furniture, and stands up to everyday foot traffic. Like all hand knotted wool, the pile has a nap, so the rust tones shift slightly as you walk around the rug and as the light changes.
Use it as a large living room rug, under a dining table that seats eight, or in a great room. The rich rust and gold tones give an eclectic or boho chic room its focal point, and they add warmth to modern farmhouse and industrial loft spaces. The flowers soften clean-lined, modern furniture.
