Hand-Painted Vintage Wool Area Rugs

Every rug here began as a vintage hand-knotted wool rug. Each one was laid in the sun to soften its original colors, and its pile was sheared low by hand. Then new color was painted in by hand, area by area, and the rug was washed. Because the color is placed by hand rather than dipped, a hand-painted rug can mix several new shades, so a classic Persian design comes back in teal and brown, gray and purple or red and blue. The low pile shows the old pattern clearly and lies flat under furniture. These retro vintage rugs come in room sizes from about 6x9 to 10x13, and they suit eclectic, modern and boho rooms that want a classic pattern in fresh color. Each rug is one of a kind.
