Arsh's Rug Library · Buyer Questions

A round rug softens a room full of straight lines. In the right spot it looks deliberate and elegant, and it can solve layouts a rectangle can't.
Dining: add about 4 feet to the table's diameter, so a 48-inch table takes an 8-foot round and chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. Foyer: leave 12 to 18 inches of floor between the rug and the walls or doors. Living room: a round rug works best when it sits under a round coffee table and the front legs of the chairs around it.

A round rug in a square room works best when something else in the room is round too: a table, a mirror, a light fixture. If you use a round rug and a rectangular rug in the same open space, give them one shared color so they look planned.
Use a pad cut round to match, slightly smaller than the rug. Rotate it a quarter turn every few months, which is easy with a round rug and keeps the wear even.
