Southwestern Kazak Marlyn Red/Beige Wool Rug - 9'0''X12'1''

A red field is filled with rows of navy and gold hooked medallions and small diamonds, framed by an ivory border with red flowers. It is a 9x12 hand knotted Kazak rug in red and beige.

In the Caucasus, a finished rug was a source of pride, and the best Kazaks were kept and handed down in the family. The tight rows of medallions give it a rich, traditional look. Hand knotted in Pakistan, it is made from hand-spun wool and natural vegetable dyes and tied with the Turkish double knot. Small shifts of shade in the pile, called abrash, show that the wool was spun and dyed by hand, and the firm, short pile is made to last for years.

It is ideal for an open-plan living area, a formal sitting room, a living room seating group or a dining room under a table for six to eight. Classic yet lively, it suits bohemian, rustic, cabin and contemporary rooms that need a touch of tribal color.
