A speckled gray-brown center sits inside a wide frame of diagonal stripes in rust, gold and gray. The frame gives the open center a clean, modern outline. It is a 5x6 overdyed area rug in gray and rust.
Hand knotted in all natural dyed, hand-spun wool, this rug is one of a kind. Next, it spent three to six months in the sun, where natural sunlight slowly drew out its original colors. It was then overdyed in gray and hand washed, leaving quiet, tonal shades that give a traditional design a completely new, modern life. The center and the frame took the dye differently, which is what gives the border its contrast. You may notice lighter and deeper areas of gray across the surface. That layered, uneven color is the signature of an overdyed rug, and together with the hand-tied knots it gives the rug its own personality. Underfoot the wool pile is soft and dense, made to handle daily use in busy rooms.
It works well in a living room seating area, a bedroom, a dining nook, or a home office. The muted gray and rust color suits industrial loft, minimalist, and Japandi rooms, and it gives a modern space texture without adding pattern or bright color.
