Blossoms and sweeping vines show tone on tone through a bright sea green field inside a floral border. Because the design is tone on tone, the color leads and the pattern is a quiet second layer. It is an 8x9 overdyed area rug in teal.
Hand knotted in all natural dyed, hand-spun wool, this rug is one of a kind. Next, it spent three to six months in the sun, where natural sunlight slowly drew out its original colors. It was then overdyed in teal and hand washed, leaving bold, chromatic tones that give a traditional design a completely new, modern life. The dye takes differently on each shade of the original design, which is why the pattern shows through tone on tone instead of disappearing. You may notice lighter and deeper areas of teal across the surface. That layered, uneven color is the signature of an overdyed rug, and together with the hand-tied knots it gives the rug its own personality. Underfoot the wool pile is soft and dense, made to handle daily use in busy rooms.
It anchors a living room seating group, a bedroom, or a dining room. The saturated teal color gives a boho chic, eclectic, or maximalist room its focal point, and it brings energy to a neutral, modern space with white walls and simple furniture.
