This handmade wool rug is one of a kind, hand knotted from a blend of hand-spun local wool and fine merino wool and colored with natural vegetable dyes extracted from local plants. Those dyes create an abrash, a soft shift in shade within a single color. Hand-spun wool takes natural dye a little differently from batch to batch, so the variation is normal and is one of the signs of a true handmade rug. After knotting, the pile is trimmed to a moderate thickness, then stone-washed and sun-dried for a natural sheen and a comfortable feel underfoot.
