Coral-pink floral panels and small flowering plants alternate in a checkerboard on a dark purple-brown ground. The repeating panels make a strong graphic statement from every side. It is a 3x5 overdyed area rug in purple and pink.
Hand knotted in all natural dyed, hand-spun wool, this rug is one of a kind. It was then sun faded for three to six months, harnessing the sun's natural energy to gently neutralize its original colors. Artisans then overdyed it in purple and washed it by hand, bringing out rich, chromatic hues that turn a classic rug into an original work of art. The lighter panels took the dye brightly and the darker ground took it deeply, which is what makes the grid stand out so clearly. You may notice lighter and deeper areas of purple across the surface. That layered, uneven color is the signature of an overdyed rug, and together with the hand-tied knots it gives the rug its own personality. Underfoot the wool pile is soft and dense, made to handle daily use in busy rooms.
It works well in a living room seating area, a bedroom, a dining nook, or a home office. The saturated purple and pink color gives a boho chic, eclectic, or maximalist room its focal point, and it brings energy to a neutral, modern space with white walls and simple furniture.
