Tiny scattered sprigs dot an open beige field, framed by a soft brown border of scrolling leaves. It brings a soft, garden-like feel to the floor. This classic transitional 8x10 area rug comes in beige and brown.
This handmade wool rug is one of a kind, hand knotted from hand-spun, natural vegetable dyed wool in a mix of merino, New Zealand, and Ghazni wool. The vegetable dyes, extracted from local plants, give the beige field and the brown border their depth, with tan and green used for the detail work. The beige field may show an abrash, a gentle change of shade within one color. It is normal in handmade rugs, because hand-spun wool takes natural dye a little differently from batch to batch. Fine hand knotting keeps the small blossoms and curving vines crisp. The pile is trimmed to a moderate thickness, then stone-washed and sun-dried for a natural sheen across the full 8'2'' x 9'7''. The finished pile is dense and even, soft to walk on, and resilient enough to recover from furniture and daily use. Like all hand knotted wool, the pile has a nap, so the beige tones shift slightly as you walk around the rug and as the light changes.
It anchors a living room seating group, a bedroom, or a dining room. The calm beige and brown tones, with touches of tan and green, work in Scandinavian and modern farmhouse rooms, and give a quiet-luxury feel under neutral upholstery. The flowers soften clean-lined, modern furniture.
