A dense all-over floral pattern in rust shows through a golden olive wash, inside a border of dark blossoms. The old design is still there, softened into the color. This 10x13 overdyed area rug comes in rust and blue.
Hand knotted in all natural dyed, hand-spun wool, this vintage rug is one of a kind. Next, it spent three to six months in the sun, where natural sunlight slowly drew out its original colors. It was then overdyed in rust and hand washed, leaving bold, chromatic tones that give a traditional design a completely new, modern life. The dye takes differently on each shade of the original design, which is why the old pattern shows through tone on tone instead of disappearing. You may notice lighter and deeper areas of rust across the surface. That layered, uneven color is the signature of an overdyed rug, and together with the hand-tied knots it gives the rug its own personality. The pile is low, so the surface is smooth and sits flat under doors and furniture, and its worn-in texture hides everyday footprints.
It holds a full living room seating group, a dining table for six to eight, or a spacious primary bedroom. The saturated rust and blue color gives a boho chic, eclectic, or maximalist room its focal point, and it brings energy to a neutral, modern space with white walls and simple furniture.
