A small leaf trellis covers a soft brown-gray field inside a beige border. The regular repeat gives the rug a tailored, orderly feel. This oriental transitional 8x10 area rug comes in brown and beige.
This handmade wool rug is one of a kind, hand knotted from hand-spun, natural vegetable dyed wool in a mix of merino, New Zealand, and Ghazni wool. The vegetable dyes, extracted from local plants, give the brown field and the beige border their depth, with brownish gray used for the detail work. The brown field may show an abrash, a gentle change of shade within one color. It is normal in handmade rugs, because hand-spun wool takes natural dye a little differently from batch to batch. Fine hand knotting keeps the small trellis even across the whole field. After knotting, the pile is trimmed to a moderate thickness, then stone-washed and sun-dried, which gives this 8x10 rug its natural sheen. The finished pile is dense and even, soft to walk on, and resilient enough to recover from furniture and daily use. Because the pile lies in one direction, the brown field looks a little deeper from one end of the rug and lighter from the other.
Use it as a living room rug, under a dining table, or in a spacious bedroom. The warm brown and beige palette, with a touch of brownish gray, brings a boho chic, eclectic feel to a room and pairs well with leather, walnut, and brass. The small-scale pattern layers well with bolder fabrics and prints.
