An open field of warm gray-brown is framed by a border of small red squares. The frame outlines the center the way a mat frames a picture. This 10x14 overdyed area rug comes in brown and red.
Hand knotted in all natural dyed, hand-spun wool, this rug is one of a kind. Next, it spent three to six months in the sun, where natural sunlight slowly drew out its original colors. It was then overdyed in brown and hand washed, leaving quiet, tonal shades that give a traditional design a completely new, modern life. The center and the frame took the dye differently, which is what gives the border its contrast. You may notice lighter and deeper areas of brown across the surface. That layered, uneven color is the signature of an overdyed rug, and together with the hand-tied knots it gives the rug its own personality. The wool pile is dense and soft underfoot, and it stands up well to daily use in busy rooms.
It holds a full living room seating group, a dining table for six to eight, or a spacious primary bedroom. The muted brown and red color suits industrial loft, minimalist, and Japandi rooms, and it gives a modern space texture without adding pattern or bright color.
