A diamond trellis of small blossoms covers a red-brown field inside a beige floral border. The regular repeat gives the rug a tailored, orderly feel. This chic transitional 8x11 area rug comes in brown and beige.
Hand knotted and one of a kind, this wool rug is made from hand-spun, natural vegetable dyed wool, a blend of merino, New Zealand, and Ghazni wool. The brown of the field and the beige of the border come from vegetable dyes extracted from local plants, and tan and brass pick out the smaller motifs. You may notice an abrash in the brown field, a soft shift in shade within a single color. It comes from hand-spun wool taking natural dye slightly differently from batch to batch, and it is one of the signs of a true handmade rug. Fine hand knotting keeps the small trellis even across the whole field. The pile is trimmed to a moderate thickness, then stone-washed and sun-dried for a natural sheen across the full 8'3'' x 10'8''. What you get is a dense wool pile with a soft hand, low enough to sit neatly under chairs and doors and sturdy enough for busy rooms. Like all hand knotted wool, the pile has a nap, so the brown tones shift slightly as you walk around the rug and as the light changes.
Use it as a living room rug, under a dining table, or in a spacious bedroom. The rich brown and beige tones, with touches of tan and brass, give an eclectic or boho chic room its focal point, and they add warmth to modern farmhouse and industrial loft spaces. The small-scale pattern layers well with bolder fabrics and prints.
