A fine tone-on-tone trellis covers a beige field with soft brown and green detail. The small repeat reads as texture from a distance and as pattern up close. It is a boho chic transitional 8x10 area rug in beige and brown.
This handmade wool rug is one of a kind, hand knotted from hand-spun, natural vegetable dyed wool in a mix of merino, New Zealand, and Ghazni wool. The vegetable dyes, extracted from local plants, give the beige field and the brown border their depth, with taupe and watchet used for the detail work. The beige field may show an abrash, a gentle change of shade within one color. It is normal in handmade rugs, because hand-spun wool takes natural dye a little differently from batch to batch. The trellis is knotted by eye, so each repeat is very slightly different from the next. After knotting, the pile is trimmed to a moderate thickness, then stone-washed and sun-dried, which gives this 8x10 rug its natural sheen. The finished pile is dense and even, soft to walk on, and resilient enough to recover from furniture and daily use. Because the pile lies in one direction, the beige field looks a little deeper from one end of the rug and lighter from the other.
It anchors a living room seating group, a bedroom, or a dining room. The soft beige and brown palette, with touches of taupe and watchet, is a natural fit for Scandinavian, Japandi, and minimalist rooms, where texture and quiet color do the work. The fine lattice reads as tailored, which suits transitional and classic-modern rooms.
