A large, lacy blue trellis covers a pale tan field. The regular repeat gives the rug a tailored, orderly feel. This classic transitional 10x14 area rug comes in blue and tan.
This handmade wool rug is one of a kind, hand knotted from hand-spun, natural vegetable dyed wool in a mix of merino, New Zealand, and Ghazni wool. The vegetable dyes, extracted from local plants, give the blue field and the tan border their depth. The blue field may show an abrash, a gentle change of shade within one color. It is normal in handmade rugs, because hand-spun wool takes natural dye a little differently from batch to batch. Fine hand knotting keeps the small trellis even across the whole field. The pile is trimmed to a moderate thickness, then stone-washed and sun-dried for a natural sheen across the full 9'11'' x 13'11''. The finished pile is dense and even, soft to walk on, and resilient enough to recover from furniture and daily use. Like all hand knotted wool, the pile has a nap, so the blue tones shift slightly as you walk around the rug and as the light changes.
Use it as a large living room rug, under a dining table that seats eight, or in a great room. The blue and tan tones work in contemporary, coastal, and mid-century modern interiors, and they pair easily with gray, white, and natural wood. The small-scale pattern layers well with bolder fabrics and prints.
