A faint trellis of fine lines and small blossoms covers a peach field inside a brown border. The regular repeat gives the rug a tailored, orderly feel. This transitional 9x12 area rug comes in peach and brown.
This one-of-a-kind, handmade wool rug is hand knotted from hand-spun, natural vegetable dyed wool, a blend of merino, New Zealand, and Ghazni wool. The vegetable dyes, extracted from local plants, color the peach field and the brown border, with taupe and blue in the details. Look for the abrash, a gentle shift in shade within a single color. It tends to show most in larger areas of one color, such as the peach field here, and it happens because hand-spun wool takes natural dye a little differently from batch to batch. Fine hand knotting keeps the small trellis even across the whole field. After knotting, the pile is trimmed to a moderate thickness, then stone-washed and sun-dried, which gives this 9x12 rug its natural sheen. The result is a dense, even wool pile that feels soft underfoot, springs back under furniture, and stands up to everyday foot traffic. Because the pile lies in one direction, the peach field looks a little deeper from one end of the rug and lighter from the other.
Use it as a large living room rug, under a dining table that seats eight, or in a great room. The warm peach and brown palette, with touches of taupe and blue, brings a boho chic, eclectic feel to a room and pairs well with leather, walnut, and brass. The small-scale pattern layers well with bolder fabrics and prints.
