A soft pattern of blossoms and vines covers a pale blue field with gray-green detail. The all-over design has no center, which makes furniture placement easy. It is an eclectic transitional 12x18 area rug in blue and green.
Hand knotted and one of a kind, this wool rug is made from hand-spun, natural vegetable dyed wool, a blend of merino, New Zealand, and Ghazni wool. The blue of the field and the green of the border come from vegetable dyes extracted from local plants, and light blue and gray pick out the smaller motifs. You may notice an abrash in the blue field, a soft shift in shade within a single color. It comes from hand-spun wool taking natural dye slightly differently from batch to batch, and it is one of the signs of a true handmade rug. The curves of the flowers and vines are drawn knot by knot, which keeps their outlines sharp. Once the 12x18 rug is off the loom, the pile is trimmed to a moderate thickness, then stone-washed and sun-dried for a natural sheen. What you get is a dense wool pile with a soft hand, low enough to sit neatly under chairs and doors and sturdy enough for busy rooms. The natural lanolin in the wool helps the pile shed dust and resist everyday soiling, so it stays fresh with regular vacuuming.
Use it as a large living room rug, under a dining table that seats eight, or in a great room. In blue and green, with touches of light blue and gray, this rug gives a boho chic or eclectic room a focal point, and it sits just as well in a coastal or transitional space. The floral pattern leans transitional and suits cottage and grandmillennial rooms too.
